A Simple Supper

Inspired by all the yummy fruits and vegetables I purchased today, I knew what I wanted for dinner: something simple and easy, with preparations that were bright and clear that would let the tastes of the fresh produce shine through.

I had these gorgeous heirloom tomatoes and decided to make a salad: thin slices of tomato alternating with basil leaves. I also sliced up some fresh mozarella, and drizzled the lot with olive oil and red wine vinegar. I made this dish first, so that it could sit for a bit, and let the flavours blend...

The next dish was a handful black Mission Figs and some greeny-brown Turkey Figs, cut up and served with some Point Reyes bleu cheese. The third small plate was of some sliced bockwurst, accompanied by bits of Italian-style baguette, and some Edmond Fallot dijon mustard.

Yum... a perfect little summer supper... Posted by claudine at August 7, 2004 11:53 PM
