Hoo-boy It's been a strange week. The one constant is that work hasn't slowed one whit. I've been getting up and getting into the office way earlier than usual, and this work week is one day short but it feels like it's been longer than a mere 4 days. Yesterday I rose at 6am so I could get into work early and leave by 4pm for a performance. Montanha's company, Ubisoft, was having a company pool party/ tournament at 330 Ritch and wanted us to perform. At the club I ran into Danielle, Claire's sister who also worked for the same company. Small, small world... We did a 20-minute performance of some maculele and roda and music, chilled for a bit afterwards and proceeded to class. It was great to have Mestre there playing the drums and leading the roda, but I never want to wear those long maculele skirts ever again. At around 9:15pm last night, after only an hour into training, and in the midst of doing 200 round kicks, it felt like we had been training for 3 hours... Tonight I and Formi meet at the Coliseum for Prince's Musicology concert, and today I found out that my boss -- VP and Deputy General Counsel -- the one who hired me and who's been one of the guiding lights in the company and for my experience here, is leaving the company. Everyone is hushed and subdued, walking around with stunned, blank sorts of expressions. A few of us got teary-eyed. It's a big blow to our department. I can't seem to focus any longer...
