We will miss you
I attended the last Matt Gonzalez art opening on Friday night, and perhaps it was significant that he chose this final event to invite Twist and Amaze to exhibit their work.
He apparently told them that they could do whatever they wanted, and so it was that there was a huge "SMASH THE STATE..." in bright flourescent orange lettering on one wall, with signature Twist-y face bobbing below the drippy letters. Graffiti in City Hall. Rad. One poster wrote the following on the fecalface boards:
I know that may sound strange given the artist and his background, but show up between 5 and 8 and you can see some of Josh's new work. It's worth it just for the irony of it all.
Irony indeed. God, I love San Francisco, and wish Matt G. had been elected mayor. He leaves office on 8 January. I hope that this won't be the last we see of him.
